Laminax

Laminax™ RFI/EMI Shielding Tape and Flat Winding Conductors

LAMINAX products have countless applications in transformer and electronics industries, both as winding conductors and for electrostatic and grounding shields. They can be manufactured in a variety of styles.

The LAMINAX family of materials consists of metal foil and strip which is partially or entirely enclosed in insulating film. At Bridgeport Magnetics, the materials are combined in a proprietary laminating process which will bond to the most common dielectric, polyester film, metal substrates, as well as to other film materials such as polyimide "Kapton (tm)" film.

Standard sizes are available for purchase on-line.

Unlike competing products which are based on pressure sensitive tape, in LAMINAX the bond is produced without the use of an adhesive. This means that our laminates are thinner for a given dielectric strength than otherwise possible.

The absence of an adhesive also means that the film layer does not need to be removed for termination, since lead wires can be soldered cleanly to the base metal right through the film. And finally, cutters and taping machines never "gum up" with particles of pressure sensitive adhesive.

Sample Laminax Configurations to meet your needs

Backed Conductor

 Laminax B-Series
Replaces interleaved winding of two individual materials by bonding insulating film on one side of the foil and overlapping an equal amount at both edges.

Conductors

 Laminax BM-Series
Bonds two or more parallel foil or strip conductors onto a common backing film.
Not available for on-line purchase, please call factory.

Cuffed Conductor

 Laminax C-Series
Partially encloses a metal foil or metal strip in insulating film which is bonded to one side of the foil while both edges are folded around the foil and bonded to the edge areas on the other side. Five different bonding configurations are available. Cuffed foil is used extensively as shields in toroidal transformers and as winding conductors in foil coils.

Enclosed Backed/
Enclosed Backed Multiple

 Laminax EB-Series
Replaces interleaved winding of two individual materials and is available in five different bonding configurations shown below together with the specific features and applications of each to help you choose what suits your application best from performance as well as cost point of view.

Enclosed Cuffed Conductor
 Laminax EC-Series
Replaces interleaved winding of two individual materials and is available in five different bonding configurations shown below together with the specific features and applications of each to help you choose what suits your application best from performance as well as cost point of view.

Jacketed Conductor
 Laminax J-Series
Bonds and folds plain film around the metal foil and seals it  with a strip of bonding tape which connects the films edges without adhering to the metal. The jacket strips off easily when required.
